Out with the old in with the new
It’s kind of a long story but here it is none the less. Way back when it was nearly impossible to work on ones own website, I had someone build a site for me that I could manage myself. It went along rather smoothly for some time and worked just fine. Then Social media seeped in, and kind of took over. It was so immediate and in the now. It was easier to manage. I didn’t seem to use the web site as much. Then my wife Rachel and I went on a year long painting excursion across the nation and back. That is another story and was chronicled on Face Book, once again taking the place of the website presence. I will get back to that in the future. During this time the desktop computer I was using crashed and had to be replaced. The only access I had to my site was on the dashboard of that computer. I couldn’t make contact with the original architect of the site. So I just let it sit there for years and did business on social media. Recent events have pushed me to the realization that I needed to fix my web problem. After some digging around I found the original builder and discovered that he hadn’t moved away to the orient or defected to Tahiti, he had just changed jobs and I was sending emails and calling the wrong place wondering why they were not returned. I finally got ahold of him, even with his help, and Tyson, Rachel’s oldest son who is quite savvy in cyberspace, and me who knows nearly nothing. Not to mention several hours on the phone and computer talking with so called tech’s from various company’s the site was hosted by, none of us could figure how to update the system far enough to upgrade it. Even after resetting all the passwords and usernames. Hence the new site it will be a work in progress. I hope I have learned the lesson. Again!
